During the New York Clown Theatre Festival at Williamsburg Brick theater, musical artist Margaret Leng Tan, wearing a clown nose, made her clown debut by presenting two movements of the work “Curios”.

After starting music lessons at age six, Margaret Leng Tan went on to study at the Julliard School at 16, and later became the first female graduate with a doctorate degree from the school. In the 1980s, Tan met John Cage, who was a huge influence on her work, and encouraged the usage of unconventional instruments such as toy pianos.
