To celebrate Hainan Airlines launching the first non-stop service
between New York and Chengdu and Chongqing in western china, hundreds
of notable public figures and celebrities from the US and China
attended a grand reception and classical concert at Lincoln center.
The night was also an occasion to celebrate Hainan airlines’ parent
company HNA group and its contributions to non-profit arts and
cultural institutions in New York.
Service to Chongqing began on October 21 and service to Chengdu began
October 27. Each route will operate twice weekly out of JFK's terminal
4.This marks the first non-stop flight connecting NY with China's
rapidly growing Sichuan province, well-known as the home of the giant
panda. Continuing a collaboration with dreamworks animation, the
chengdu-new york route will have special "Kung Fu panda" designs
wrapped around the boeing 787 dreamliners.
The uniforms worn by by airline employees throughout the years were
also showcased as one of the reception programs. The highlight of the
show was a "rosy cloud" uniform designed by Laurence Xu which blends
eastern and western aesthetics.
Currently with flights connecting New York, Boston, Chicago, Seattle,
LA, San Jose, Las Vegas to Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, and
Changsha, HNA group now operates the largest number of direct flights
