Liang Wang – Principal Oboe Pioneer

Liang Wang, who, in 2006, achieved the prestigious position of Principal Oboist of the New York Philharmonic at the age of 26, is preparing for his 24th performance with the orchestra: Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto on April 7th, 8th, 9th, and 12th.

Incidentally, this is the same concerto he debuted with as a New York Philharmonic concerto soloist. After over a decade of success, including the receipt of the 2014 Beijing International Music Festival Artist of the Year award and recruitment into China's 1,000 Talents Program,

Liang views music as a wonderful never ending challenge and believes even musicians that play at his caliber can always continue to improve.
