Should one stay comfortably employed in their hometown or venture to a thriving city for new opportunities? Director Jiang Jiachen poses this question in his new film “Looking for Lucky” shown at the New York Asian Film Festival.
The movie tells the story of a poor student looking for his professor’s lost dog, Lucky, with the help of his father. Told through a relatively calm story, the theme is much deeper- it reveals the economic and social problems of Dongbei, the director’s hometown, along with the feeling of uncertainty through its individual and regional development.
Sinovision intern reporter Candice Li interviewed the film director and brings you the story.
