Off-Broadway Show “A Deal”

There are two phenomena happening in Chinese communities in recent
years that has caught playwright Zhu Yi’s attention. The first is a
significant growth in the number of Chinese international student art
majors in the U.S.; the second is there are more and more chinese
purchasers of real estate in the U.S..

Drawing inspirations from these two phenomenon, Zhu Yi wrote the play
“A deal”, a story of a young Chinese actress in America who invents a
background of political oppression and family tragedy to get a part in
a new play. Meanwhile her parents show up from China to buy real
estate in NY and chase their American dreams.
