Tibet was a mysterious region one hundred years ago when he set out to explore it, and fell in love. The “Unknown Tibet: The Tucci Expeditions and Buddhist Painting” is a selection of the paintings he acquired during his travels in Tibet that are on Display at the Asia Society Museum. In the exhibitions there are three sections to view. The first is the story of Tucci’s travels in Tibet. The second shows the different paths to Buddhist awakening. The final section “The Tibetan Cosmos” puts Buddhism and Buddhist Art into a broader Tibetan Religious and scientific context.
